Sweatshop Literacy Movement and Amnesty International Australia warmly invite you to join our new online book club for readers of all backgrounds from all across Australia.

​

Book club members will meet online bi-monthly to critically discuss and explore important, current and topical texts in a range of literary forms, including prose, poetry and non-fiction, which focus on urgent human rights issues.

​​

The book club meetings will be facilitated by multi-award-winning authors and editors, Dr Michael Mohammed Ahmad and Winnie Dunn, with support from Amnesty International Australia Leadership President, Silvia Greco.
​

Eligibility:

  • Applicants from all cultural backgrounds are welcome.

  • Readers from First Nations, migrant and refugee backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Registrars must be Australian residents and over the age of 16.

  • All participants in the Amnesty International Book Club must be registered members with Amnesty International. Please follow this link to become a member.

Sweatshop Literacy Movement is a nationally recognised grass-roots organisation that is devoted to empowering First Nations and culturally diverse communities through reading, writing and critical thinking. Over the past decade, Sweatshop has mentored thousands of young writers across Australia and published a renowned catalogue of anthologies and single-authored works in prose, poetry and non-fiction.
