Abeny Monyteng Ring Mayol
Abeny Monyteng Ring Mayol is a South Sudanese writer from Western Sydney. She lived in Kakuma refugee camp in the Turkana district and Nairobi, Kenya where she learned how to read and write. Abeny completed a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning with Honours from the University of South Australia. She currently works as a social planner for Campbelltown Council, is a member of Sweatshop: Western Sydney Literacy Movement, and is completing her Masters in Urban Design at the University of Sydney. Her goal is to help create socially inclusive and culturally responsive communities through policies. She is passionate about empowering young women and is currently working on a project to build a girls school in South Sudan.
