Claire Cao is a writer and editor living on Darug lands. She has been published in Meanjin, The Guardian, ArtReview and Red Room Poetry. She is currently Film Editor for The Big Issue Australia. She was awarded the 2022 New Critic mentorship by Kill Your Darlings. Claire is a co-writer on the 2021 feature film, HERE OUT WEST, and assists with programming for the Sydney Film Festival. She graduated with a Bachelor of Law/Arts at the University of NSW. Previously, Claire has edited for Voiceworks, was mentored in the 2019 MIFF’s Critics Campus and was runner-up for the 2019 Liminal fiction prize.
