Janette Chen

Janette Chen is a Chinese-Australian writer originally from Lidcombe. Her work has been published in SBS Voices and Mascara Literary Review. She has performed for the Sydney Writers’ Festival and WritingNSW’s Boundless Festival. Janette holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Technology Sydney and works for Sydney Film Festival. In 2019, Janette won the prestigious Deborah Cass Prize for her short story, “Wall of Men” and was mentored by Dr Roanna Gonsalves the following year. In 2021, she took part in the Stories of Filial Piety project, which was funded by City of Sydney and Matching Grants. In 2022, Janette was a script editor and consultant on The Demon, which premiered at the Sydney Opera House.
