Marel Parono

Marel Parono is an Assyrian-Australian writer from South-West Sydney. He has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degrees in Neuroscience and Psychology. Currently he works as a Mental Health Project Officer at STARTTS, interweaving his background in neuroscience and psychology to help refugees and asylum seekers in Australia. Marel's writing has appeared in Stories Out West and Love Anthology. He has performed his pieces of work at the Bankstown Poetry Slam and placed second at the Grand Slam in 2025 at the Opera house.
