Sweatshop Literacy Movement and Amnesty International Australia warmly invite you to join our online book club for Australian readers.

​

Book club members will meet bi-monthly to critically discuss and explore a diverse range of contemporary literary texts, which focus on urgent human rights issues.

​​

The book club meetings will be facilitated by multi-award-winning authors and editors, Dr Michael Mohammed Ahmad and Winnie Dunn, with support from Amnesty International Australia Regional President, Silvia Greco.
​

Eligibility:

  • Readers from all cultural backgrounds are welcome.

  • Readers from First Nations, migrant and refugee backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Readers must be Australian residents over the age of 16.

  • There are no fees to join, however applicants are invited to become an Amnesty International member

Sweatshop Literacy Movement is a nationally recognised grass-roots organisation that is devoted to empowering First Nations and culturally diverse communities through reading, writing and critical thinking. Over the past decade, Sweatshop has mentored thousands of young writers across Australia and published a renowned catalogue of anthologies and single-authored works in prose, poetry and non-fiction.
